ABOUT GAIL

Gail Nuestro is a full time student concurrently pursuing her high school diploma and an associate's degree in general studies. She began LeadingLiteracy as part of an honors project to keep track of her endeavors to benefit the immigrant and refugee communities in St. Louis and around the world, teaching them conversational and literacy skills in English. Gail immigrated to the United States with her family when she was five and picked up on English through ESL & ESOL programs herself. While she spent several weeks connecting to organizations with a desire to volunteer, she realized the gap that existed between volunteers and those that need help, and works to bridge that gap while documenting her experiences.
